Attorney: Durst unconnected to Vermont missing-student case

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (AP) — A defense lawyer says millionaire real estate heir Robert Durst has no connection to the 1971 disappearance of a Vermont college student or any other case.

Attorney Dick DeGuerin says Durst is “an easy target for this game of ‘Blame it on Bob.’”

Police said Tuesday a 2012 tip led investigators to look into whether Durst played a role in the disappearance and presumed death of Lynne Schulze, who was a Middlebury College freshman from Simsbury, Connecticut.

Durst is an estranged member of the New York real estate family that runs 1 World Trade Center. He killed and dismembered a neighbor whose body was found in a Texas bay in 2001.

He was arrested this month in New Orleans and is facing murder charges in the 2000 death of a woman in Los Angeles.
